Delight in these homemade spicy wontons served with a bold, flavorful chilli sauce that’s perfect as an appetizer or snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g ground pork
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 3 tablespoons chilli garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (for sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground pork, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. Mix well to create the wonton filling.
  2. Place about a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten edges with water and fold into a triangle or desired shape, pressing edges to seal.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry wontons in batches until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together chilli garlic sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and soy sauce to make the chilli sauce.
  5. Serve fried wontons hot, drizzled with or dipped into the prepared chilli sauce. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

For a healthier version, steam the wontons instead of frying and serve with the same spicy chilli sauce.
