One-Pot Ground Turkey Orzo

This comforting one-pot ground turkey orzo dish combines lean protein with tender orzo pasta and savory vegetables for a quick and flavorful meal.

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or deep skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and garlic; sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add ground turkey, cooking and breaking it up until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  4. Stir in diced red bell pepper, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper; cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Add orzo pasta, chicken broth, and diced tomatoes; stir to combine.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes or until orzo is tender and liquid has mostly absorbed.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese if using.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

For added creaminess, stir in a splash of heavy cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt just before serving.
