Juicy hamburger steaks simmered in a rich and creamy dill sauce, perfect for a comforting and flavorful dinner that’s quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized hamburger steaks.
  3. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the hamburger steaks for 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
  4. In the same skillet, sprinkle the flour over the drippings and stir to create a roux. Cook for 1 minute.
  5. Slowly whisk in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in sour cream and chopped dill, and cook gently until the sauce thickens, about 2–3 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and spoon the creamy dill sauce over them. Heat through for an additional 2 minutes.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with extra dill if desired.

Notes

For a creamy variation, add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the sauce. Serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
