Ground Turkey Pasta

This Ground Turkey Pasta is a flavorful and healthy weeknight meal combining lean ground turkey with tender pasta and a savory tomato sauce for easy, satisfying eating.

  • 8 oz pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground turkey to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until fully browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, allowing flavors to meld together.
  7. Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine thoroughly with the sauce.
  8. Remove from heat and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, then serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes while cooking the sauce, or serve with a side of garlic bread for a complete meal.
