Gordon Ramsay Beef Stroganoff

A rich and creamy classic beef stroganoff inspired by Gordon Ramsay, featuring tender strips of beef, sautéed mushrooms, and a tangy sour cream sauce perfect for a comforting dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 250g chestnut mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 200ml beef stock
  • 150ml sour cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice, to serve

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced beef in batches to avoid overcrowding, sear quickly until browned but still pink inside. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and butter, sauté the onion until softened.
  4. Add the garlic and mushrooms, cook until mushrooms release their moisture and begin to brown.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir well to coat, cooking for 1 minute.
  6. Gradually add the beef stock while stirring to create a smooth sauce.
  7. Stir in the Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce, then return the beef to the skillet.
  8. Reduce heat to low and gently mix in the sour cream, warming through without boiling to prevent curdling.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Serve immediately over cooked egg noodles or rice, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine when sautéing the mushrooms or serve with a side of steamed green beans.
